Can the Sun stop as the Bible says?
Can the Sun stop as the Bible says?
Joshua 10:11 and it came to pass that as they fled before Israel, when they were in the descent of Beth-Horon, the Lord hurled from the Sky great stones upon them until Azekah, and they died; and more were those who died by the hailstones than those who killed the sword The children of Israel.
Joshua 10:13 and the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
Isaiah 28:21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
2 Samuel 5:20 And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.
Isaiah 28:2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.
Isaiah 38:8 Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
Response;
We have all heard the story of Joshua, and we have associated it with the movement of the solar system in heaven, but I want to present a new idea based on the movement of the axis of the Earth, with which respond much easier to this story. To begin I have looked for all the verses that could have a relationship with what happened that day.
The climate; apparently the climate before the sun stop was hailstorms, this is very important to take into account.
In Isaiah 28; 21 apparently the prophet refers to two wars, a valley of perazim. Which Peleus David, and the valley of Gibeon, which peleus Joshua, where teaches us that God made a strange operation.
David says that God defeated his enemies as an impetuous current. And we saw that the day Joshua stopped the Sun, it also seems to be a stormy day,
Now in Isaiah 38.8 tells us the story that the Lord said that he was going to overtake the sun or postpone it, according to what would like the king.
Then depending on the scientific point of view, we can give two types of responses to these signals of the Lord.
1. To say that the sun and the moon stopped from a point of view of the normal movement of the solar system, is a little difficult to accept today, the same to say that the sun went forward or receded.
2. if we try to respond to these Bible stories from the point of view of changes in the Earth's axis for causes of climate, because storms very strong, we could explain in a natural and simple, like the sun and the moon were stopped.
Then we could say that the sign of God on the day of the Battle of Gaban, was to move the axis of the Earth in several degrees to put the nation of Israel at the point where the sun does not hide, and create in Israel a phenomenon similar to that known as Sun of media Night.
The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon observable in the north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Arctic Circle Antarctic, which consists in the fact that the sun is visible 24 hours a day on the dates next to the summer solstice.
